While in this country, I imagines that I desired to with a constructive unit of the army. (ie)(medical corps) - but after arriving in England, and obtaining a broader view of the situation, I knew that I wished to be in a more active branch of the service. What were the mental and physical effects of your army experience on yourself? After discharge, I seemed to act as one in a dream, but gradually I became readjusted to the affairs of civil life. Physical effects were beneficial. What elements of your college life and work were most valuable to you in service? I am a bit uncertain about this, but I am sure that the spiritual and general training received at Wesleyan stood me in good stead. What is your present feeling regarding universal military training, etc.? I am favor of it. If you took part in the fighting, what impressions were made upon you by this experience? We seemed to be fighting against a merciless machine, and sometimes unless in actual combat, it was difficult to cultivate and foster a personal hatred which is necessary in a soldier to produce the required results.
