Lamp

This cast group, consisting of balustrade and fleur de lis decoration and a panel in the center with a Hebrew inscription, comes from the Netherlands. The backplate, designed to catch dripping oil from the lamp, is also typical of lamps from the Netherlands. Many examples of this cast group are from the 17th or 18th centuries, but this cast type continues to be produced. It is perhaps likely that this lamp is from the 19th or 20th century, as the Star of David rarely appeared in Jewish artwork prior.
