Cantors (Judaism)--United States Synagogue music Sabbath -- Liturgy Synagogues--Organization and administration
Lionel Wolberger, then a Wesleyan graduate student in ethnomusicology, visited a large number of Conservative congregations and took extensive notes on the structure of their Sabbath service by hand, as recording was not allowed. Though very informal in structure, these reports represent unique fieldwork data in Jewish music studies. Part of the “History of the American Cantorate” project, which was designed and executed by Mark Slobin in 1984-86 under a grant from the Natonal Endowment for the Humanities awarded to the Cantors Assembly, a professional society.
