In this thesis, I explore the multiple ways in which a single site, Long Lane School, a former reformatory and juvenile detention center, has been perceived over time. I examine this space from the perspective of Wesleyan students, including myself, from the perspective of Wesleyan's Physical Plant employees, from the perspective of neighbors who have lived opposite the place for years, and from the perspective of former employees and residents of the institution.
