This thesis explores how individuals and organizations in southcentral Alaska are mobilizing to protect the non-human aspects of their landscape that they love¿particularly salmon. The fieldwork for this ethnography was conducted over a summer of interning at Cook Inletkeeper, an environmental non-profit in Homer, Alaska. This project explores the complex entanglement of humans and nature, how knowledge is produced in this era of the climate crisis, and the practices of activism in the Alaskan conservation movement. This thesis is about the messy worlds of human and non-human assemblages and the experience of living to prevent impending apocalypse and in spite of it.
