The Digital Lab at Olin Library supports Wesleyan University Libraries’ digitization initiatives by creating high-quality digital surrogates of library and archival collections. The lab also partners with campus departments and patrons on select digitization projects. Digitization workflows follow current national preservation imaging standards to support long-term access, consistency, and sustainability. 

The Digital Lab uses Hasselblad X1D 50c and Nikon D850 camera systems tethered to Mac Studio workstations, with daylight-balanced Broncolor strobe lighting and a motorized copy stand for flat and bound materials.

 

Most materials are captured at 300–600 PPI and 16-bit color depth to support preservation-quality digitization.
